Jenny & Lauren are a part of our remedial massage team at Bayside but they’re also qualified Myotherapists!
What exactly is Myotherapy?
Myotherapy is a form of physical therapy focused on understanding, assessing, treating, and managing pain and movement limitations/musculoskeletal concerns. It goes beyond symptom relief, it's about understanding how your body moves, functions, and responds to stress, injury, and the demands of everyday life. Myotherapists use evidence-based treatment approaches to help address the underlying contributors to pain and restricted movement.

What does a Myotherapy appointment involve?
Every treatment is tailored to the individual. Depending on your presentation and goals, a session may include a combination of the following techniques:
Soft tissue therapy/remedial massage
Dry needling
Joint mobilisations
Corrective & targeted exercise
Movement education
Injury management & rehab
Myofascial release
Breath-work
Pain education
Functional Cupping
Strength & Conditioning/Exercise Programming
Initial consultations allow time for a detailed assessment, hands-on treatment, and the development of an individualised treatment plan.
At our clinic, we believe one of the biggest benefits of Myotherapy is the time we spend understanding you and your history, lifestyle, movement patterns, goals, and the factors contributing to your symptoms. Whether you’re managing tension, recovering from injury, navigating chronic pain, or simply wanting to move better, every treatment is tailored to the individual.
Myotherapy embraces a holistic approach, combining a range of treatment techniques with exercise prescription, movement guidance, and performance-focused strategies to support long-term outcomes.
Who Can Benefit from Myotherapy?
Managing pain, tension, and ongoing discomfort
Whether you're experiencing persistent pain, muscular tension, postural concerns, diagnosed long-term conditions, or the general aches and strains that come with daily life, Myotherapy aims to identify and address the contributing factors.
Supporting recovery and rehabilitation
From recent strains and flare-ups to long-standing complaints, treatment is tailored to your individual recovery goals and rehabilitation needs. Care can be delivered by our Myotherapists or collaboratively with our broader team of practitioners when appropriate.
Enhancing mobility and movement quality
If you're feeling restricted, stiff, or simply want to move more comfortably, Myotherapy can help improve movement efficiency through hands-on treatment, corrective exercise, and practical movement education.
Performance and active lifestyles
Whether you're a recreational exerciser, weekend warrior, or elite athlete, Jenny and Lauren have extensive experience supporting training demands, performance goals, and movement-related concerns, with guidance tailored to your individual presentation and activity level.
Why choose Myotherapy at Bayside?
Both practitioners completed their Sports Therapy education and training in the UK, with their studies extending beyond manual therapy alone. Their qualifications and experience include injury management and treatment, biomechanics, rehabilitation, exercise programming, pain science, clinical assessment.
This allows them to identify not only where pain exists, but also why it may be occurring, helping them understand the bigger picture and create more effective treatment plans.
They have also gained valuable experience working within multidisciplinary settings, including Bayside Sport & Health, alongside other allied health professionals. This has reinforced the value of collaborative care and individualised treatment planning.
As Myotherapists, our goal is not simply short-term relief or ‘quick fixes'. We aim to educate, guide, and empower clients with a better understanding of their bodies while helping them work toward their personal goals.
